Motherboard

Motherboard functions as a computer parts place, connecting these components to be run as its function and as a regulator the current flowing into each component.

The motherboard has an important role in the computer. But often times the motherboard was never considered by most people. Most people when buying a computer is the processor in question only. Rarely or never even asked about motheboard people wore.

Whereas the function of the motherboard is important. The motherboard acts as the body of all the components in the computer. Everything will not be able to function properly if the motherboard is not good. All the hardware on the computer is always embedded in the motherboard.

The parts Motherboard 

In a motherboard, there are some parts of the motherboard with the function of each. The motherboard include :

1. BIOS (Basic Input/Ouput System)

BIOS serves to connect the existing software on the computer with the hardware installed on the motherboard. BIOS itself is an acronym for Basic Input / Output System.

In the BIOS there is a program that can be used to adjust how the components installed on the motherboard to work.

2. Processor Socket / Processor Slot

In order processor can be placed with ease, then the supplied socket on the motherboard. Socket is made of pits processor tailored to the foot that can be placed on the motherboard.

There are many types of socket on the market. For example, socket 478, socket 775 and LGA socket for Intel processors, as well as socket AM2 or AM3 socket for AMD processors. Each socket has holes are different from one another.

3. RAM Slots

RAM or memory is placed on the motherboard RAM slots. RAM slots depending on the type of RAM used. For old motherboards typically use SDRAM slot whereas the latest type using DDR3 slot.

4. Expansion Slot

The function of the expansion slots is to put the components used to increase computer performance. Typically the devices that added are multimedia devices, such as VGA cards that are useful to increase the sharpness of the display, sound card, etc..

5. CMOS Battery

CMOS battery on the motherboard serves as an alternate power source when the computer is not connected to a power source. The battery is very useful for the motherboard as power in identifying the components installed on the motherboard.

Expansion slots consist of various types including PCIExpress slot, PCI, or AGP. Each type of slot has advantages and disadvantages of each depends on the needs of computer use.

The motherboard part is no less important is the connector. There are different types of connectors that serve to connect the motherboard to the other devices. Several types of connectors include:

    * Connectors sound serves to connect the motherboard to the sound device

    * USB connector to connect the motherboard with USB

    * SATA connector linking the motherboard to the hard drive

Keep noticed that the more components installed on the motherboard, the power needed to operate the computer will increase. Therefore, in order to computer motherboard can run stable and last a long time, also provide power supply according to the power requirements.

If the power is gained power supply is smaller than needed, then it is likely the motherboard will be broken and the computer will run unstable.
