Components of Computer and its Functions

Physically, the computer consists of multiple components that constitute a system. If one component is not working, would result in a computer is not functioning properly. Computer components are included in the category of hardware elements.

Based on the function, the computer hardware is divided into :

  

1. Input Device

Equipment input serves as a medium to incorporate data from external systems into a memory and a processor for processing in order to produce the required information. 


Keyboard

   

Keyboard input is the most important equipment in a data processing computer. The keyboard can function include letters, numbers, special characters, and as a medium for the user (users) to perform other commands are required, such as saving files and opening files.

Mouse

   

Mouse input device is one that serves to move the pointer or cursor quickly. In addition, it can be as practical commands and faster than with a keyboard.

Touchpad 

  

Touchpad is used instead of a mouse on a laptop / notebook.  

Microphone

Microphone function to record or insert a sound to be stored in the computer's memory and to talk while chatting.


Webcam

 

Function to take pictures / videos to be transferred to the internet. 


Scanner

Scanner is used to copy / take a picture of the outside of the computer files that the results will be displayed on the computer.

2. Process Device

Process equipment is the main and most important unit processes in the computer that controls the entire process from data processing to read the data from an input device, process or process up to the release of information to the output devices.

Motherboard

Motherboard is one tool in a computer that is used as a place to put up or put some other equipment such as: processor, memory, cables data (interface) hard drives, floppy disks, card (cards) crate: VGA Card, NIC (network card) and others.

Processor

Processor is a chip that is the control center of the brain and various other devices so that the computer can work with each other.

RAM ( Random Access Memory )

RAM stands for Random Access Memory, which is a computer component that serves to store data from a program that we are running and the data can be accessed randomly or random.

Video Card

 

This video card is a computer component that serves to generate output images to display on the monitor.



Sound Card

Sound Card has a function as a data processor in the form of audio or sound and as a liaison an input / output sound to a computer.

3. Output Device

Output Device is equipment that serves to display the data, instructions and information in the form of text and graphics or pictures.

Monitor 

Monitor function to display the data, instructions and information in the form of text and graphics or images on the screen.


Speaker 

Speaker has a function to generate sound effects from your computer.

Printer

Printers are output devices that are used to print the data / information from the computer to paper.
